Solution

Definition

The induced current is the current induced in a conductor subjected to a varying magnetic field.

The rule used to find the direction of induced current

Fleming's right-hand rule is used to determine the direction of the induced current.

Fleming's right-hand rule:

According to this rule, if users organize their right-hand thumb, forefinger, as well as middle finger perpendicular to one another (as shown in the figure).

  1. The thumb points to the direction of the conductor's motion relative to the magnetic field.
  2. The forefinger figures in the direction of the magnetic field.
  3. The middle finger points towards the direction of the induced current.
