Lake tapping:

  1. Lake tapping is the process in which a tunnel is excavated at the lowest of the lake until it reaches to the rock-water contact level.
  2. The tunnel is then carefully blasted by placing dynamite at the bottom
  3. After the blast, the water runs through the tunnel with more pressure

Purpose of lake tapping:

  1. Limit the lake water level
  2. Depollute the lake water
  3. Drain out the lake water effectively
  4. Provide waterways to establish hydropower
  5. Make water available for irrigation
