  3. The phenotypic ratio in F2 generation of dihybrid cross is - 9:3:3:1

Law of Independent Assortment:

  1. It is based on a dihybrid cross.
  2. The law states that ‘when two pairs of traits are combined in a hybrid, segregation of one pair of characters is independent of the other pair of characters.'
  3. Each pair of contrasting characters behaves independently and bears no association with a particular character.
  4. Because of such an independent assortment of characters, new combinations of characters are produced in the offspring.
