Definition of Ordinate:

In a two-dimensional graph, the vertical refers y-axis to the ordinate and the horizontal x-axis refers to the abscissa.

If a coordinate point (x,y) is given. Then, the value x represents abscissa and the value y represents ordinate.

Example:

In a coordinate point(-2,3),

-2=Abscissa3=Ordinate

Hence, the y-coordinate of a point is called the ordinate.
