Racemose is an inflorescence in which the terminal of a branch does not transform into a flower that is the reason it is also called as indefinite inflorescence in which the flowers are arranged acropetally.
Different types of the racemose inflorescence are:-
Corymb-All the flowers are arranged at the same level due to the slight shortening of peduncle and pedicel is slightly elongated of lower flowers. An example is a candytuft.
Umbel:-Pedicellate flowers are arranged centripetally around an extremely reduced peduncle with an involucre below. An example is Centella
Spike:-Sessile flower born acropetally. An example is Amaranthus.
Spikelet:-it is a compact spike with few flowers born on the axis called rachilla and surrounded by two scales called glumes. An example is a wheat.
Catkin:-Compact unisexual spike often hanging. An example is Acalypha.
Spadix: -A fleshy spike covered with spathe. An example is a maize.
