1. It is a polyphyletic group of non-mobile organisms, which are kept together based on the similarity of features, however, they do not exhibit a common ancestor.
2. They are usually known as thalloid plants or lower plants.
3. Thallophytes are categorized into two main divisions, i.e. algae and fungi.
