These are the groups of animals and plants within a species with specific characteristics like distinctive appearance or traits.

Species:

The group of individual organisms with fundamental similarities are known as species.

Breed signifies only animals and plants.But species signifies animals, plants, and microorganisms.
Breeds are selected among the population for their specific characteristics by an artificial selection process.Whereas species are the groups that involve in the production of fertile offspring by the natural selection process.
Example: Rottweiler and German Shepherd are two breeds.Example: Felis catus(Cat) and Panthera leo(Lion) are different species.
