Question

What is the mean and mode of first 10 composite numbers?

Open in App
Solution

Determine the mean and mode of the first 10 composite numbers.

Composite numbers are the whole numbers that have more than two factors.

Except for 2, all even integers are composite numbers.

Here, first ten composite numbers are: 4,6,8,9,10,12,14,15,16,18.

The ratio of the sum of observations to the total number of observations is known as the mean.

Now, calculate the mean:

Mean=4+6+8+9+10+12+14+15+16+1810Mean=11210Mean=11.2

There is no mode because all of the numbers appear only once and there is no repetition.

Hence, the mean is 11.2 and there is no mode.
