Open in App
Solution

n-factor:

  • The n-factor of salts is defined as the number of moles of electrons lost/gained by 1 mole of the salt.

n-factor of Mohr's salt:

  • Ammonium iron (II) sulfate is an inorganic salt which is also known as Mohr's salt.
  • The chemical formula for Mohr's salt is (NH4)2Fe(SO4)2(H2O)6.
  • As Iron Fe is in +2 oxidation state i.e. (Fe2+), it oxidizes by removing 1 electron and converts to Fe3+.
  • Thus, the n-factor of Mohr's salt is 1.
