Vegetative Propagation

  1. Angiosperms are not capable of producing asexual bodies like spores for reproduction and multiply in number by vegetative propagation.
  2. The formation of new plants from the vegetative parts of parents such as leaf, stem, bud, or root is called Vegetative Propagation.
  3. The units of vegetative propagation such as rhizome, tuber, sucker, and bulb give rise to new plants, known as vegetative propagules.
  4. Dahlia has root tubers with adventitious buds which when placed in soil, grows into leafy shoot known as slips, which when separated and planted form new plants.
