Sand is defined as the granular material which is composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. Sand is defined on the basis of their size.
Sand is usually in the form of quartz and calcium carbonate is the second most common type of sand. The other forms of sand are particles from whole rocks, feldspar particles, and there are sand particles that are coloured such as black and green.
Therefore, it could be said that sand is not a matter but it is of the particle size. The diameter of the sand particles ranges from 0.0625 mm to 2 mm in particle diameter.
