  • He left a gap for the undiscovered elements below Aluminium and Silicon and called them Eka-aluminium and Eka-silicon.

  • Eka-silicon was the name given to the element below silicon in Mendeleev's Periodic table which was not discovered at that time.
  • When this element was discovered, it was given the name Germanium (Ge).
