The absolute value represents the distance of the given number from zero on the number line.

Since the distance can not be negative. Therefore, the absolute value of any number will be always positive.

That is absolute value of -a will be:

-a=a.

-7=7 , It represents the distance of the number -7 from zero on the number line, which is 7 units.

Hence, the absolute value of -7 is 7.
