  1. The magnifying glass is a tool that uses a convex lens to make an object appear much larger than its actual size.
  2. The convex lens converges the parallel beams of light into one concentrated beam of light.
  3. In order to make the magnifying glass work properly, the object must be placed at a distance less than the focal length of the lens.
  4. The following diagram explains the position of the object.

Hence, the object needs to be kept between the optical center of the lens, and the principal focus.
