  1. Yawning is an involuntary reaction (the one we can't control) that helps us regulate our oxygen and carbon dioxide levels.
  2. When we are sleepy, our breathing slows down which means that not enough oxygen is delivered to our lungs, causing us to yawn.
  3. Yawning aids in the delivery of more oxygen to the bloodstream and the removal of more carbon dioxide from the bloodstream.
