Electrolytic cell:
An electrolytic cell is a type of vessel in which electrolysis takes place.
It converts electrical energy into chemical energy.
During the process of electrolysis, the positively charged cathode undergoes reduction due to the gain of electrons while the negatively charged anode undergoes oxidation as the electrons are being lost.
Electrolytic reduction:
During electrolytic reduction, the metals are deposited at the cathode i.e. the negatively charged electrode.
