Why are open drains a concern?

Open drain is a big concern for the society because they create unhygienic conditions. Open drains are breeding ground for a number of insects like flies, mosquitoes. The wastewater from sinks, toilets, laundries, showers goes down to the drains. The sight of an open drain is disgusting. The situation worsens in the rainy season when the drains start overflowing. So, it is better to keep the drains closed.
