  1. A material that exhibits the property of attracting certain substances or objects.
  2. They can also produce a magnetic field circling it.

Like poles

  1. Like poles are the same poles of different magnets.
  2. Example:- North-North, South-South.

The reason why like poles of a magnet repel each other

  1. There are two poles in a magnet South pole and a North pole.
  2. The line of forces emerging from the north pole is always opposite to the one arising from the south pole and vice versa.
  3. When the like poles ( any of the examples mentioned above) of two magnets are brought together, the lines of forces of each magnet are in the opposite directions which is why they repel each other.
