Why were the linguistic states created? What are their advantages?

Linguistic states were created to ensure that people who speak the same language lived in the same state. Some states were purposefully created to uphold the differences based on culture, ethnicity, or geography. Example: Nagaland, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand. The advantage of creating linguistic states has made the country more united. Linguistic states have also made administration easier.
