Insects are found in large numbers because:

1. Insects have developed mechanisms that profitably help them to survive the extreme climatic conditions.
2. They consist of various body adaptations.
3. Due to their small body structure, they require a minimum amount of food and can exist in extreme conditions.
4. They also have the ability to reproduce in large numbers, really quickly.
5. Low extinction rates.
