Interference: The phenomenon of superpositioning of two light waves that produces an increase in intensity at some points and a decrease in intensity at other points.

Conditions for interference.

  1. The source of light should be monochromatic.
  2. The waves of light should have the same frequency.
  3. The light should be propagated in the same direction.
  4. The amplitudes of two waves should be equal or nearly equal.
