Acceleration is known as the increment in velocity of a body per unit of time Retardation is just the reverse of acceleration or the decrement of velocity per unit of time.

Example: At pressing the accelerator, the speed of the vehicle increases. Hence the vehicle will accelerate. Example: When we apply brakes, the speed of the vehicle will reduce, and the vehicle will have retardation
