Solution

Pig iron:

  • Pig iron, also referred to as crude iron, is an iron industry intermediate product used in the production of steel that is formed by smelting iron ore in a blast furnace.
  • It contains around 4% carbon and several impurities like as S,P,Si,Mn, and others.

Cast iron:

  • Cast iron is an iron alloy containing 2to4% carbon, as well as various levels of silicon and manganese and residues of contaminants such as sulphur and phosphorus.
  • Iron ore is reduced in a blast furnace to produce it.

Steel:

  • Steel is an iron alloy with a few tenths of a percent carbon added to improve fracture toughness resistance when compared to other kinds of iron.
  • Many elements may exist or be added.
  • Corrosion- and oxidation-resistant stainless steels normally require an additional 11 percent chromium.
