Three different types of plastids are found in plants cells:

1. Chromoplast

• It has xanthophylls and carotene.
• It imparts colours like red, yellow and orange to the plant parts.
• It helps in the pollination and dispersal of seeds by birds and insects.
• They help in pollination by dispersal of seeds.

2. Chloroplast

• It has chlorophyll that helps in performing photosynthesis.
• It imparts green colour and helps in performing photosynthesis.

3. Leucoplast

• They do not impart any colours and serve to store several food products.
• E.g. amyloplasts- store starch
