Solution

Eye lens and Ciliary muscle.

  1. The lens present in our eye is known as the eye lens.
  2. The muscle present around the eye lens to help in adjusting the focus is known as the ciliary muscle.

Structure of Eye lens.

The lens of the eye is a bi-convex lens made of a translucent fibrous jelly-like substance.

The lens is made up of four layers:

  1. The lens capsule: It's a transparent, membrane-like structure made up of collagen IV and laminin that's quite elastic.
  2. Epithelial Cells: Epithelial cells are the parent cells that help the transparent ocular lens to grow and develop.
  3. Lens fibers: They are firmly packed, long, thin, transparent cells with diameters of 47micrometers and lengths of up to 12mm.
  4. Zonules: Ciliary zonules are fibrous structures that connect the ciliary body to the eye's lens.Structure of the lens and its associations with the visual quality | BMJ Open Ophthalmology

Role of ciliary muscles.

  1. It helps in adjusting the focal length of the eye lens.
  2. The ciliary muscles assist in regulating the flow of aqueous fluid in the eye.
  3. The ciliary muscles are made up of circular layers of smooth muscle that help to keep the lens in place.
