Question

How do I prepare fresh FeSO4 ?

Open in App
Solution

  1. With the FeSO4 formula, the chemical compound is ferrous sulphate. The most common type of this substance is the blue-green heptahydrate, known since ancient times as copper and as green vitriol.
  2. Ferrous sulphate crystals lose water when heated. Owing to the formation of anhydrous ferrous sulphate, their colour changes from light green to white (FeSO4). It provides ferric oxide, sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide when ferrous sulphate is heated.
