Following ways cyanide can be synthesized:

  • The compound cyanide is synthesized by some species of algae, bacteria, and fungi.
  • This compound can also be found in the seeds or the fruit stones of certain fruits (minute quantities), some common examples of these fruits include peaches, apricots, bitter almonds, and apples.
  • Some chemical compounds that contain the group CN, have the ability to release cyanide are categorized as cyanogenic compounds. Examples of such compounds are Hydrogen Cyanide(HCN), Sodium Cyanide(NaCN) etc.,
