Solution

  1. The concept of momentum has been there since the 6th century. But, all descriptions had some flaws in them, whether it be a mix-up between mass and weight or speed and velocity.
  2. A correct description of momentum was first stated by Isaac Newton when he published his three laws of motion.
  3. According to the second law of motion, the rate of change of momentum with respect to time is equal to the force applied. The momentum is equal to the mass of an object multiplied by its velocity.
