Question

Why are covalent bonds flexible?

Open in App
Solution

Covalent bonds:

  1. Covalent bonds are formed by the interaction of electrons between atoms of identical or other elements.
  2. Therefore, the forces formed between them are the van der Waal forces hence, they are soft with low melting and boiling points.
  3. Also, they are more flexible than ionic compounds.

Because of good interaction between electrons, covalent bonds are flexible in nature.
