Question

Why ideal solutions do not form azeotropes?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Azeotropes are the mixtures that are constantly boiling.
  2. Also, their compositions do not change during the process of distillation.
  3. Raoult's law states that the partial vapor pressure of any volatile component in a solution is equal to the sum of the vapor pressure of the component in its pure form and the mole fraction present in the solution.
  4. Azeotropes are combinations that continuously boil. Distillation does not alter their chemical makeup.
  5. Raoult's law is followed by ideal solutions, and they don't produce azeotropic mixtures.
