  1. They are single-celled organisms that lack a proper nucleus and other organelles.
  2. Examples- bacteria, archaea, and cyanobacteria.

Mycoplasma:

  1. They are the smallest living prokaryotic cells forming a genus of Bacteria.
  2. They lack a definite cell wall around the cell membrane and peptidoglycan. This confers them with antibiotic resistance.
  3. They can be pathogenic to both plants and animals.
  4. Examples- M. pneumoniae causes atypical pneumonia.
  5. They are prokaryotes that are easily distinguished from bacteria.
