Solution

Down syndrome:

  1. Down Syndrome is a genetic disorder due to the nondisjunction of the 21st pair of chromosomes. It is also known as 21- trisomy.
  2. It is characterised by a flat rounded face, protruding tongue, projecting lower lip, and short neck.
  3. An ultrasound can detect fluid at the back of a foetus's neck, which indicates Down syndrome.
  4. Dilated brain ventricle, small nose bone, and bright spots in hearts can also be detected in ultrasound to determine Down syndrome.
