  1. Virion is the complete infectious particle consisting of an outer protein coat called the capsid.
  2. The nucleic acid genome is surrounded by the capsid.
  3. Virions are about 10 – 400 nm in diameter.
  4. They are extremely small in size to be seen by a light microscope.
  5. So, they are visualized using a transmission electron microscope.
