  1. Osteichthyes are a diverse group of fishes that have bony skeletons instead of cartilage.

  3. Osteichthyes are oviparous, that is the female lays eggs.
  4. They are usually dioecious, that is male and female reproductive organs are present in different organisms.
  5. The process of reproduction is called spawning.
  6. The frequency of reproduction is once a year.
  7. They reproduce sexually and the fertilization takes place externally.
  8. The male releases his sperm into the water and the female releases eggs, which get fertilized in the water.
