Solution
Vacuole:
The vacuole is a cell organelle found in both plant and animal cells.
Plant cells have a large vacuole occupying more than half of the cell while animal cells possess only a small vacuole.
It serves as the storage unit of the cell.
It contains a lot of water as well as other substances.
It regulates the amount of fluid present inside the cell and maintains the turgor pressure of the cell.
Plant cells gather water in their vacuoles when they grow large by expanding the cell wall which is in turn driven by turgor pressure.
The role of the vacuole in animal cells is mainly to remove waste products.
