Open in App
Solution

Urea formation:

  1. Urea is an excretory waste material that is removed by the body in the form of urine.
  2. Urea is formed during nitrogen metabolism in our body.
  3. Urea formation takes place in the hepatic cells of the liver.
  4. Then the urea is released into the bloodstream.
  5. The blood reaches the kidney and filteration takes place. Hence, it excretes out the urea.
  6. Urea cycle was discovered by Hans Krebs and Kurt Henseleit in 1932 and later it was described further by Ratner and Cohen.
  7. The urea cycle is a biochemical reaction that produces urea from ammonia.
  8. This cycle's main role is to convert highly toxic ammonia to less toxic compounds i.e. urea.
