  1. Coelenterata is the other name of the phylum Cnidaria.
  2. Coelenterata or Cnidaria is one of the first organisms that have developed tissue level of organization.
  3. They are mostly marine except for hydra which is a freshwater organism.
  4. They have radial symmetry.
  5. They exhibit tissue grade of organization.
  6. They have specialized stinging cells called cnidoblasts that help in food capture, attack, defense, and adhesion.
  7. Mouth is composed of a cluster of tentacles.
  8. Digestion is both outside the cell(extracellular) as well as inside the cell (intracellular).
  9. Respiration is through the general body surface.
  10. A diffused set of nerve cells constitutes the nervous system.
