  1. The information transferred or passed from the parent generation to the offspring is called a genetic code.
  2. It is defined as the sequence of three nucleotides in RNA that determines the sequence of amino acids for the synthesis of proteins.
  3. In other words, it can be defined as the set of rules by which information encoded in the DNA or RNA sequences is translated into proteins by the living cells.
  4. It is a combination of three letters, depicting three different or same nucleotides called codons.
  5. It is nonoverlapping, which means the adjacent codons do not overlap.
