Question

Is sweating an example of diffusion?

Open in App
Solution

Diffusion:

  1. Diffusion is defined as the movement of molecules from a higher concentration to a lower concentration.
  2. This occurs due to the random movement of molecules.

Sweating:

  1. When our body temperature rises, we sweat.
  2. This is a response to the excess heat and the evaporation of sweat results in the cooling of the body.
  3. This allows the heat molecules to dissipate and our body temperature to lessen.
  4. So, excess heat from the body diffuses away in the form of evaporation of sweat.
