1. Stomata – Guard cells surrounds the stomata causing a doorway effect, which could be increasing (swollen) or decreasing (shrunken) in size. When the guard cells are swollen, stomata is sealed causing less water loss through transpiration.
2. Leaf hair – It deflects some light and maintains a cool plant temperature causing minimal loss of water.
3. Cuticle – It is an epidermal layer seen in vascular plants, cells of this layer release cutin which is a waxy substance, preventing water loss from the stomata.
