  1. It is a protein.
  2. It is found in the red blood cells of humans.
  3. Its function is that it helps in the transport of gases i.e. oxygen and carbon dioxide.
  4. HbA1, HbA2, HbE, HbF, HbS, HbC, HbH, and HbM are the different types.

Subunits:

  1. It is made up of four components.
  2. HbA contains two alpha and 2 beta-globin chains.
  3. A heme group is connected to each subunit.
  4. There are 141 amino acids in the alpha polypeptide chain and 146 amino acids in the beta polypeptide chain.
