The causes of ascariasis :

  1. Ascariasis is a type of roundworm infection caused by an intestinal parasite called Ascaris.
  2. These worms are parasites that use the body as a host to mature from larvae or eggs to adult worms.
  3. Ascariasis isn't spread directly from person to person.
  4. Instead, a person has to come into contact with soil mixed with human or pig feces that contain ascariasis egg.
  5. Small children often play in the dirt, and infection can occur if they put their dirty fingers in their mouths.
  6. Unwashed fruits or vegetables grown in contaminated soil also can transmit the ascariasis eggs.
  7. Flies generally are considered the vector for roundworms in humans.
