Open in App
Solution

Cell:

  1. The basic unit of life.
  2. The body of all living organisms is made of cells.
  3. The body of an organism may be unicellular (same type of cell) or multicellular ( different types of cells)
  4. The cell is regarded as a structural or functional unit of life.
  5. It contains membrane-bound organelles such as the Endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, mitochondria, etc.

Two types of cells:

Prokaryotic cell:

  1. In the cells in which the genetic material is not surrounded by any membrane, it is suspended freely in the cell which is also called the nucleoid.
  2. Bacteria, archaea, and cyanobacteria are prokaryotic organisms.
  3. The prokaryotic cell lacks membrane-bound organelles such as the Endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, and Golgi apparatus.

Eukaryotic cell:

  1. The cells in which genetic material inside the nucleus is surrounded by a nuclear membrane.
  2. The eukaryotic cell contains all membrane-bound organelles such as the Endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, etc.
  3. Plants, fungi, and animals are eukaryotic organisms.
