Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): Deoxyribonucleic acid is a polymer composed of two polynucleotide chains.

  1. Each cell contains DNA in its nucleus where it is called nuclear DNA
  2. DNA is present in the cytoplasm in the form of the nucleoid in prokaryotes.
  3. A small amount of DNA can also be found in the mitochondria where it is called mitochondrial DNA or mtDNA.
