Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): Deoxyribonucleic acid is a polymer composed of two polynucleotide chains.
- Each cell contains DNA in its nucleus where it is called nuclear DNA
- DNA is present in the cytoplasm in the form of the nucleoid in prokaryotes.
- A small amount of DNA can also be found in the mitochondria where it is called mitochondrial DNA or mtDNA.
- Except for red blood cells and cornified cells, all other cells in the human body contain nuclear DNA. Also, all cells start with nuclear DNA.
