Protozoa:

  1. Single-celled eukaryotes are either free-living or parasitic and feed on organic substances like other microbes, organic tissues, or residues.
  2. Because of their tremendous diversity, the only thing all protozoa have in common is that they are unicellular eukaryotic microorganisms.
  3. Most protozoans are heterotopic.
  4. Examples: Amoeba, Paramecium, Plasmodium (Malaria), Trypanosoma (Sleeping sickness), Trichomonas (Trichomoniasis), etc.
