Solution

Deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA:

  1. It is a biopolymer that carries the genetic information of many organisms. It contains units of biological information called nucleotides.
  2. DNA is required for protein production, regulation, metabolism, and cell regeneration.
  3. DNA is composed of two strands that twist around a common axis in a form called a double helix.
  4. The double helix looks like a twisted ladder — the crossbar of the ladder is made up of pairs of nitrogen bases [adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), thymine (T)], and the sides of the ladder are made up of alternating sugar molecules and phosphate groups.
