  5. They have thin and rigid cell walls made up of cellulose.
  6. Some of them even contain special nitrogen-fixing chambers known as heterocysts.
  7. They are primitive organisms that have existed from the times of oxygen-deficient reducing environments.
  8. Many algal cells have a gelatinous outer covering.
  9. Inclusion bodies like starch granules, oil droplets, and vacuoles are present.
  10. Examples: Diatoms, Dinoflagellates, Euglenophyta, etc.
