Multiple endocrine neoplasias (MEN):

  1. Multiple endocrine neoplasias (MEN) is defined as the neoplastic growth i.e., tumors in more than one endocrine gland.
  2. These types of disorders are inherited and the tumors are common benign (not cancerous).
  3. Due to overgrowth of the endocrine glands, hormone production is elevated leading to severe complications.
  4. There are two main types of MEN which are MEN1 and MEN2.
  5. MEN1 is found in the pituitary, parathyroid, or pancreas gland whereas MEN2 usually affects the thyroid gland or adrenal gland.
