  1. Isogamy is a type of sexual reproduction that involves gametes of the same morphology, i.e. same size and shape.
  2. Heterogamy is a type of sexual reproduction that involves the gametes of different size and shape and physiology.
Isogamy Heterogamy
1. It is the process of the fusion of similar gametes.1. It is the process of fusion of dissimilar gametes.
2. Both the gametes must be either flagellated or non-flagellated.2. One gamete can be flagellated or non-flagellated.
3. Both the gametes should be either motile or non-motile.3. One of the gamete is non motile and larger in size whereas the other is motile and smaller in size.
4. Example: Ulothrix ( flagellated ) and Spirogyra ( non-flagellated ).4. Example: Human beings ( sperm and ovum )
