Secretin hormone:

It is a gastrointestinal peptide hormone produced in the cytoplasmic secretory granules of S-cells of the duodenum.

Effects of secretin hormone:

1. It helps in the regulation of water homeostasis throughout the body, and secretions in the stomach, pancreas, and liver.
2. It helps in the regulation of gastric acid, regulation of pancreatic bicarbonate, and maintains the osmotic pressure in the fluid.
3. Secretin helps to regulate the pH of the duodenum by inhibiting the secretion of gastric acid from the parietal cells of the stomach and stimulating the production of pancreatic fluid and bicarbonate from the ductal cells of the pancreas.
4. It also inhibits gastric motility.
